To be able to understand the issue better, let us know the status of the printer device in the Device Manager settings.
Press Windows logo + R > type devmgmt.msc > type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Device Manager.
Note: Unknown and uninstalled devices will be listed under Other. The device will have a yellow alert symbol on it. The properties for the device will show that no driver was found.

Next, check if the printer spooler service is started and working.
To do so:
- Press ‘Win key +R’ on the keyboard.
- Type Services in the search box.
- Select view local services which appears at the left side of the screen.
- Search for Print spooler service and double click on it.
- Check if that service is started and the StartUp type is set to Automatic.
- To set the service to automatic, right click on the service and click automatic.
- Click Apply and then click ok.
Next, if you are trying to set up a Home group, follow the below suggested methods and check if it helps to resolve the issue.
Method 1
I suggest you to check whether the network discovery is turned to on the device.
Follow the below steps.
Step 1: Type network in the search box and choose Network and Sharing Center in the list to open it.
Step 2: Select Change advanced sharing settingsCs source free. to move on.
Step 3: Choose Turn on network discovery or Turn off network discovery in the settings, and tap Save changes.
Method 2
There might be chances where firewall blocking the access and visibility of the PC. Try with the below mentioned command and see if it makes any difference.- Press Windows Key + X and select Command Prompt(Admin) from the context menu
- Type or copy paste the below command into command prompt and hit enter key.
netsh advfirewall reset - Exit the command prompt. Reboot your PC and see if the problem still appears.
Additionally, temporarily disable any firewall/antivirus software installed in your computer to check if it is blocking any incoming/outgoing connections.
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you shouldn't disable your antivirus software. If you have to temporarily disable it to install other software, you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you're connected to the Internet or a network while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Below are the steps required for connecting to a working printer on a network and print to it.
Connect network printer in Windows 10
- Turn on your printer and make sure it is connected to the network.
- Click on the Hardware and Sound link.
- Click on the Add a device link under Devices and Printers.
- Let Windows scan for the printer and if detected, select the printer and click Next. If the printer is not listed, click The printer that I want isn't listed and skip to add printer by name or TCP/IP address.
If you know the printer's name, choose Select a shared printer by name and enter the path to the printer. For example, with a network named hope and a printer named hp, the network path would be: hopehp.
If you do not know the printer's path, but have the printer's IP address, select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.
Click Next.
- If during the install, Windows asks for drivers, point to the location of your printer drivers. If you do not have drivers, visit our printer drivers section to find links to all printer drivers.

- Select either A network printer, or a printer attached to another computer or Network Printer and click Next. The option depends on what version of Windows you are using.
- Type the name of the printer's network address. The address is the name of the computer and then the name of the printer. For example, with a network named hope and a printer named hp, the network path would be: hopehp. If you are adding the printer on a Windows XP computer, click the Browse icon to browse your network and locate the printer. If you're unable to connect to the printer or browse and see the printer, make sure you have network rights and that any installed firewall is temporarily disabled.
- Once the network path to the printer is typed in, click Next.
- If the computer does not have the drivers for the printer, you need to install the drivers either from a drivers disc or from a download on the Internet. If you no longer have the software or drivers for your printer, you can locate the drivers for your printer through our printer drivers section.
